During this one-hour beginner watercolor class, learners will paint a fun and easy tree and snowman holiday snow globe. Together, we will sketch the drawing using basic shapes. I will paint along with the class so students can visually see step by step instructions. Learners will paint with the wet on wet technique, wet on dry technique, and will understand how to layer watercolor paint to achieve a vibrant picture. Along the way, I provide watercolor and sketching tips and shortcuts. I check in with each student periodically to ensure they are understanding the instruction and encourage them to share their work. A hairdryer is required for this project Step-by-step instruction will be taught to: Sketch a tree and snowman using basic shapes How to use white space in a painting How to create depth using highlights Painting in layers Painting can help kids: Think outside the box Use their imagination Express their emotions and feelings Develop mobility skills Acquire hand-eye coordination
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to blend colors together using watercolor paint. They will learn how to paint a tree and snowman with a few easy brush strokes. With every step, they will be encouraged to use their imagination.

Supply List
Watercolor set (Michaels has an inexpensive 36 color palette), or any watercolor set with a selection of colors will do. Watercolor paper 6” x 9” Hairdryer (required) Small and medium paintbrush Pencil Eraser Black permanent marker Round object (to draw around) approximately 4-1/2” diameter. Or, a compass. Paper towels 2 glasses of clean water Large sheet of Newspaper to work on and keep the table clean
