In this fun one-time 55 min. class we will embrace our inner artist as we paint an adorable Christmas Dog together in watercolor and crayon! This will be a fun, creative, and engaging class. No knowledge or experience required-just some paint, brushes, canvas, and an eager mind. We will be working with watercolor paint in this class and will be touching upon many of the basic techniques in painting with watercolors such as paint blending, brush stroke and movement, color mixing, water...
This fun class will help students bring out their inner artist while learning basic techniques in painting with watercolors as well as a few fun and interesting tricks. We will also be doing some drawing and planning of our own compositions.
I am an artist and children’s book author/illustrator who has taught and worked in the creative field since 2011. I hold degrees in Art, English, and Psychology as well as Creative Writing. My passion is catering to creativity and imagination! I believe these are pillars to innovative thought and raising curious, well-rounded children. The main goal in all my classes is to ignite my student’s inner creative spark to drive them to explore, experiment, learn, and grow!
There will be no homework in the class. All classes are designed to be completed during class time but some learners may want to take extra time afterwards depending on their own personal pace and interest.
-watercolor paper (12x16 size is only a recommendation and can really be done on various sizes but steps may have to be adapted for different sizes) -Watercolor Paint Palette with various colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, brown, black, white (other colors can be used if student wants to be creative) -Colored Crayons (white will be needed) -Paper Towels -Pencil with eraser -Water cup -Brushes in various sizes (a large #10 Flat, a medium #12 Round, a small #4 liner) ***These brushes are only a recommendation and we can make different ones work if needed but it is important to have at least one larger brush for large areas and one smaller brush for details. -masking tape can be useful if student wants to tape their paper down while working but it is not at all required
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
All learners will be assessed informally. Students will be encouraged to share their work with the class if they choose.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
No parental guidance is needed other than help with the supply set-up at the start of class.
