Students will follow along with me step by step as we turn our favorite holiday scenes and decorations into beautiful cards perfect for any gift. This class is geared towards those students who have a little experience with watercolor, as well as those more advanced students who simply wish to have fun. We will cover a variation of the 3 basic watercolor techniques: wet on wet, wet on dry, and dry on dry. Students will learn not only how to paint with watercolor, but also why we may use one technique or a certain color over another. They will also learn how to use other mediums in conjunction with watercolor, as well as how to apply glitter, sequins, rhinestones, etc. to a watercolor painting. By the end of class each student should have a fully finished piece.* Discussion will be secular and solely focused on how to create each painting. Week of November 18: Lesson 1: The Truck Week of November 25: Lesson 2: A Glittering Christmas Ornament Week of December 2: Lesson 3: The Snowman Week of December 9: Lesson 4: The Gingerbread Man Lesson 5: Three Christmas Ornaments Lesson 6: The Christmas Tree Lesson 7: A Christmas Wreath Lesson 8: Hot Cocoa *Everyone paints at their own pace, so I will remain 15 minutes after each class to help any students that fall behind. I will be using Arches 100% cotton, 140lb cold pressed watercolor paper. While you don’t need this specific brand I would recommend using paper that has the same qualities since cheap or non watercolor paper can cause problems and lead to frustration. Strathmore is a fairly decent alternative brand that costs $12 for a 9x12 pad at Hobby Lobby. No new topics will be added to this class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, I’m Annika and I love all things arts and crafts related. I teach watercolor and acrylic classes. In both of these I will teach your children different ways to hold a paintbrush in order to achieve various effects. We will also learn different ways of shading and blending as well as how to use a reference photo to achieve the desired affect.
I have had multiple art teachers over the years who have all come from different countries and backgrounds. Each one has taught me something different that has helped me become a better artist, and I look forward to sharing what they have taught me with the next generation of artists.
I believe art should be fun and exciting and with as few boundaries as possible. This means using materials considered “unconventional,” such as glitter, rhinestones, sequins, and anything else that inspires you. When it comes to art there is no limit to what you can accomplish.
