Class Experience

This course offers students two novel studies and corresponding labs about how water impacts and sustains life. Sessions 1-2 will look at water and the challenges of scarcity through A Long Walk to Water. Sessions 3-4 will look at the responsibility of taking care of our water sources through the novel Trouble at Marsh Harbor. Corresponding labs will be conducted with each novel study to encourage students to think critically about each perspective.

No prerequisites required. Students will need their own copies of the novels. The picture books may be checked out from the library or they may view the copies provided in class. Students should plan to read the novel between sessions and view short videos, puzzles and nonfiction readings that correspond with each class. Students may do the lab or observe the lab associated with Trouble at Marsh Harbor.
