Class Experience

In this class, we will be sketching out different warrior cats, environments, herbs, and characters from the Warriors book series. Each class, we will learn how to draw a new character, setting and or plant. For example one week we could be drawing Firestar, the next week, Tigerclaw fighting in an environment, and the next week, Yellow-fang giving medicinal herbs to a wounded cat. The teacher will take ideas from the students enrolled each week as to what they would like to draw the next meeting time.

Example of more detailed topics:
Sunday May 23. Week 1: Firestar in action pose using gesture and line to creat the cat character.
Sunday May 30th Week 2: Tigerclaw fighting; use animation type action lines and gestures to have the character show motion.
June 6th. Week 3: Yellowfang. Use of gestural line to create a completed drawing of this character with its medicinal plants.
June 13th Week 4: Graystripe. Gesture, line, proportion, landscape.

This class is an Ongoing Subscription Class so each class will be taught as a single lesson so that students can come and go as they please without worrying about missing anything from the class before.

Learners will be encouraged to learn to see in the way an artist must see in order to produce recognizable images and yet render them in their own unique style.

I will pace this class according to each student's ability and as the class goes on I will be able to better understand each student's needs and address them within each lesson.

The 75 minute class time will allow us some time to share our progress and learn from others in the class. I will also be drawing and doing demonstrations throughout the class so that the students can follow along and understand my approach to drawing and composition layout.

This sketch group is for students who use traditional mediums. (paper, pencil, eraser, and black sharpie marker) It is okay if they draw on a tablet but the teacher will not be teaching with an appear teaching about graphic applications.
Learning Goals
The student will learn, gesture, line, form and the different techniques that go into the completion of a character drawing. Each class will cover a unique character in motion from the book series Warriors. Students will improve their drawing skills and work on composition, perspective, lighting, and scale in their drawings. As well as practice drawing in perspective.
