US Grade 4 - 5
In this class, students will read the Warrior Cats series independently. Students will "Follow the adventures of the Warrior cats as the four Clans explore the forest around them, battle dark and mysterious prophecies, and learn to trust each other with their lives." We will meet once a week to talk about the book and play Blooket. We will start out with Warriors Into the Wild. Blooket is an online platform that allows educators to create question and answer sets for the kids to play. Students will be provided with a link to the game during class. They do not need a Blooket account, but some like to have one since they get to keep earning Blooks. Students will click on the link and provide a nickname for the game; then the fun begins. Blooket offers several different game options to play from fishing, to cafeteria, to toy factory and more. Week of 1-8 - Students should have read the Prologue and Chapter 1 prior to coming to class. During this session we will get to know each other, and talk about the beginning of the story and then play Blooket. The rest of the sessions will follow this format. Students will join the class having read the chapters listed below by the dates below. We will talk about reading, and play Blooket. Week of 1-15 - Read Chapters 2 and 3 Week of 1-22 - Read Chapters 4 and 5 Week of 1-29 - Read Chapters 6 and 7 Depending on student interest and reading skills, students might be asked to read more than two chapters a week.

Parental Guidance
According to Common Sense Media: Cats engage in battles and wars, fighting with claws and teeth. Some cats are left wounded and bleeding; some die. These books are appropriate for a middle-grade audience, but some sensitive children -- especially major cat lovers -- might find the books too violent or sad.
We will be using Blooket in this class. Blooket is an online website that allows teachers to create questions for students and for students to play learning games.
Supply List
Students will need access to the Warrior Books, starting with Into the Wild.

Welcome! Thank you for taking the time to visit my virtual classroom. I am a certified teacher offering classes in Spanish, English as a Second Language, Reading, and elementary school subjects and crochet. If you would like me to work with your child, please don't hesitate to reach out! I look forward to meeting you and your child.
When I was in high school, I had an opportunity to internship at an elementary school and from that moment I fell in love with education. I went on to get my degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and have been teaching ever since. I started out in the regular elementary classroom and then had opportunities to teach Spanish, Reading and English as a Second Language.
I love helping children grow as learners. It gives me great joy to see them learn and achieve their goals. There is nothing better than working with a struggling reader and hearing them say "I can read this!" I believe that children learn best when they are having fun, and feel safe. It is my goal to make each child feel this way. I want them to know that they matter to me.
I was born in Venezuela and moved to the states at the age of 10. This has helped me connect with my ESL students in the past because I understand what they are going through. In Venezuela they speak Spanish, which is why I feel comfortable teaching Spanish to young learners. I have 3 kids and I decided to work from home so that I could enjoy as much of my time with them as possible. Time flies and I want to continue working in education and encouraging children to find a love of learning.
