US Grade 4 - 6
Warrior Cat Adventure Game is a role-playing based on the popular series(s) by Erin Hunter. In this class, students will invent their territories and clan before assuming the role of the cat character he/she/they created and work with the other players to solve situations and problems - even if it means risking their lives on dangerous missions. Whether it is simply catching prey, border patrol, collecting herbs, or even training apprentices, this ongoing club offers learning the opportunity to socialize, create, and connect with other Warrior Cat Adventurers. It is the students themselves who directs these sessions, describing how their character will respond to the story, place, or situation as detailed by the Narrator (teacher). By using teamwork, players will problem solve their way through the quest, but please note: there will be mild violence in a world full of predators, rival cats, and Twolegs. Warrior Cat Adventure Games rules are used in most groups. Though a PowerPoint will be used to guide learners through situations, paths, and encounters, this is designed as a role-playing session where the Narrator (Teacher) will verbally describe scenarios the cat characters (learners) face followed by turn-taking as each explains in detail what their cat attempts to do. Time is allotted to discuss and/or discuss any situations that arose that needs either discussion or clarification. Students may, however, need to pause in the middle of a scenario and continue it the following session. Quick Reference Guide and Cat Character Sheets will be sent upon registration for students to use during the sessions. Schedule Requests are always welcome to form a new "clan" class. As the sessions themselves develop around the learners' creativity, certain classes maintain more an adherence to the actual series than others. The list provided is to give you an understanding of what to expect when joining a pre-existing group (updated 06/24).

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Janie. I am a graduate of Charleston Southern University with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and History, and was certificated in Elementary, Early Childhood, and Early Childhood Special Education. As a member of Learning for Justice, I am up-to-date on current issues and best teaching practices in order to align my classroom to inform accurate details in a fun learning environment where children and youth feel respected, valued and welcome participants. In my 15-year career, I have worked with children aged one to ten. I believe that children do not care what you know until they know that you care, and that real learning occurs somewhere between laughter, smiles and mess.
The goal in my sessions is to engage students in topics of their interest through discussion, storytelling, and creativity to encourage authentic learning of the material and an appreciation of others. Questions and comments as well as topic-related pictures, items, and other creative means are always welcome. I LOVE to crochet and I have a passion for Science-Fiction/Fantasy, history and all things Warrior Cats.
