Shhh... Want to hear a secret? After class with Ms. Jessi, your child will beg you to learn more phonics! 
Can your child remember every detail of the superhero movie you watched last month, but can’t remember the vowels? Does he tell you everything about who has a crush on who at school but can’t sound out the word paw? Why can so many children vividly remember stories and experiences but mix up letter sounds and forget phonics patterns? 
Emotions! Children remember things they relate to strong emotions, memories, and experiences. Phonics rules are usually arbitrary, confusing, and boring, but my classes turn letters into characters from hilarious stories every child can understand and remember. 
In each lesson, I integrate specific explanations of phonics patterns with multi-sensory practice, games, and laughter to make those crazy phonics rules meaningful and FUN. 
This Science of Reading aligned class addresses the Big 5 critical areas of reading instruction: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.  
Each class is tailored to your child's academic needs and progress. In the first meeting, we will chat and get to know each other a bit before I administer an evaluation to determine your child's strengths and challenges. Then, I will use the assessment data to form an educational plan to fill in any gaps in foundational skills and support your child’s literacy growth.  My classes focus on helping students build the confidence and motivation necessary to become academic risk-takers who persevere and overcome challenges… and have lots of fun along the way! 

This class is most effective when we meet at least twice a week.  This lets your child practice more often, solidify the new concepts, and optimize learning progress.
