Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 7
Welcome to Ms. Jodi's Library!

In this class, we will deeply enter into the study and research of Butterfly. Students will find the behaviors, habitats, life cycles, and adaptations that make the butterfly unique. Research will be teacher-led in the classroom and students may then chose the specific butterfly that they would like to research and report on. Once we have our research, we will then begin the amazing task of using our research to write a report of our own. We will discuss the structure of a report and how to write a good introduction and conclusion.

Students should be comfortable with writing sentences for this class, as there will not be individual writing support during class unless there is only one learner in the class. You may schedule an individual writing support class in addition to this class if you feel your child needs help writing the report. This class is best for grades 4-7 learners.

Parental Guidance
Students will be given access to my Epic library with parent permission in order to find books to research the butterfly of their choice. I will include instructions on accessing my Epic library (it's free and no personal information shared) in the classroom the first week of class. This is not required as students may also use books from home to do their research, if you prefer. Students will need access to Epic or their books for our second class research time together. We will also use Britannica.com for specific specie research.
