Please note that this class may be held either on consecutive days over the winter holidays (December 21, 22, 23 & 28, 29, 30) or weekly after the winter holidays. Please make sure that you take note of the schedule before enrolling in the class. Let's celebrate the beauty of the winter season with Waldorf-Inspired Form Drawing! This will be an in-depth form drawing class for students at the first and second grade level. We will be using fairy tales, fables, and nature poems to inspire our work. We will also be using movement, music, physical objects, and other mediums to create beautiful forms. We will begin and end our class with a short verse to help us focus. We will then recall the poem or story we heard the previous day and do activities related to it. We will start with a few basic form themes and finish with a more complex form towards the end of class. In the last part of our class, we will hear the story that we will be focusing on in our next class. This gives us a chance to let it crystallize in our minds before we begin to work with the forms related to it. Students will work in chalk to practice their forms before putting their best work into their lesson book. We will also do some of our work in paint to demonstrate that forms can be done in different mediums. In our last class, we will take some time to share our best work and do one final good-bye form. Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome! I'm Chelsea, teacher, and mother of two children ages 8 and 13. I've been working with Outschool since 2017 and as an online teacher since 2016. Outside of the online world, I am a currently working as a Waldorf Lead Teacher for Grades 6, former Waldorf Handwork Teacher, and former Waldorf Early Childhood Extended Care Teacher. In the past, I've also been a junior high art teacher and a substitute teacher as well.
I have been involved in the world of Waldorf as both a teacher and parent for over a decade now. I am currently working on my Waldorf teaching certification with The Sophia Institute. I have also participated in the iWaldorf grades teachers conference and Jamie York Math training for Waldorf teachers. I am passionate about Waldorf education and I love being able to share it with families on Outschool.
I am also certified as an EFL/ESL teacher with both my TEFL and IDELT certificates. I have a Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in Arts Administration and a Master's Degree in Business (MBA).
I am fascinated by languages and have been lucky to have spent time traveling out of the country to several places including Germany. My trips to Germany have included being a part of an ambassador group to kick off my hometown's sister cities program with Wasserburg, Germany. I have also been involved with hosting several German exchange students through the aforementioned program as well as through other exchange organizations. I've studied the German language for several years and still continue to practice with conversational German tutors to keep my own skills fresh.
I am also an avid student of natural health and have completed several certification programs in this area including herbology, essential oils, and wellness coaching for children, families and pregnant women. I am currently pursuing my ND certification as well and hope to finish within the next 3 years.
When I'm not teaching you find me working on my latest drawing or painting, reading or enjoying time with my children. I am so thankful that online teaching gives me the opportunity to teach from my home while connecting with people around the world. I can't wait to work with you and your child!
