Assessment
e believe in continuous feedback. Instead of focusing solely on end-of-unit tests, we use ongoing formative assessments. These could be interactive activities, short responses, or even lively discussions. This approach allows us to celebrate progress, catch misunderstandings early on, and adjust our teaching to support each student's individual learning journey.

Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten
Welcome to our Kindergarten Class! Inspired by the Waldorf approach, our program nurtures social, emotional, physical, and creative development. We blend nature, art, and foundational skills into a curriculum aligned with common core standards.

Our curriculum spans 36 two-week units covering early language, math concepts, and nature studies, focusing on immersive learning in each subject. We aim to foster curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning in a hands-on environment.

CURRICULUM OVERVIEW

Language Arts: Starting with phonics, we move to word formation and sentence construction, fostering a strong foundation in language and storytelling.

Math: From basic number recognition to addition and subtraction, we focus on number qualities, counting, shapes, and measurement, making math fun and engaging.

Nature Studies: We explore animals, plants, seasons, weather patterns, rocks, and minerals, instilling a love and respect for the natural world.

Storytelling: A key element, storytelling fosters imagination, emotional intelligence, and language development.

TEACHING IN BLOCKS

Following the Waldorf method, we immerse students in one subject at a time, integrating core subjects for holistic understanding.

Learning Goals
By the end of Kindergarten, learners will have acquired a foundational understanding of basic mathematical concepts and early language skills. They will be able to identify basic colors and shapes, recognize letters and the sounds they make, and have a budding understanding of numbers 1 to 10 and their properties.

Through rich, engaging stories, learners will enhance their comprehension skills, develop a diverse vocabulary, and foster emotional intelligence by empathizing with characters and themes. They will begin to construct simple narratives, enhancing their oral communication skills and sparking their creative thinking.

In mathematics, learners will familiarize themselves with counting and grouping principles, basic shape recognition, and will be introduced to the simple concepts of addition and subtraction. These skills will be reinforced through movement activities, visual aids, and hands-on explorations, ensuring abstract concepts become tangible and relatable.

Furthermore, through observation and direct experiences, learners will appreciate the wonders of nature, understanding the changes of seasons, the diversity of animal life, and the fascinating world of plants. This nature-focused learning will help to instill a sense of environmental responsibility and a lifelong love for our natural world.

Finally, the integration of arts and movement into our curriculum ensures the learners develop fine and gross motor skills, self-expression capabilities, and a keen appreciation for the arts. Through painting, drawing, crafting, and movement activities, learners will gain confidence in their creative expression and develop problem-solving skills.

Overall, our aim for Kindergarten learners is to nurture a well-rounded understanding of the world around them, ignite their curiosity and imagination, and lay a solid foundation for their future academic journey.

Parental Guidance
Depending on your learner's abilities, you will have to prepare the materials for your learner so they are able to start the activity with me. You may also need to support your learner in the art activities. An example is providing them with paint, glue or maybe cut up the tissue paper for patchwork pictures. I will give instructions on what to prepare at the start of each week. The teacher will set your child activities to do at home in family time. If you choose to complete the homeschool activities set by the teacher you will work alongside your child to do this. (please note this is not live class time and the extra work is not compulsory) Sometimes we may also do some movement (for example making shapes with our bodies), which you can supervise.
