Commonly played from the first grade on in Waldorf schools, the pentatonic flute is a great first instrument.
Class experience
The pentatonic flute is an amazingly versatile instrument. It's nearly impossible to make an incorrect note combination! This is why it is commonly taught in Waldorf schools from the first grade on. During this class students will learn the proper care of the flute, along with fingerings and notes. We will then learn a few basic songs on the flute and finish with a group recital. A bonus flute case knitting pattern will be sent out for parents to work on with their children if they choose...
Students will need a pentatonic flute. The pentatonic flute will have five holes on the front with one on the back. Choroi makes an excellent choice, the Quinta flute, but there are also more affordable options available from Amazon.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
