Enter the world of whimsical and magical gnomes and elves in this imaginative Waldorf library class. We will light a story candle to begin our special time together. The stories that we read are picture books that we will see and read together on the screen share. After we read, we will have movement time with yoga poses that allow us to become gnomes and elves. Finally, we will have a drawing time for children to process the story artistically. Drawings are all student-led and we will have a sharing time for students to share their expressions if they choose to. This is a perfect class for an older Waldorf kindy or first-grade student and even a dreamy second-grade student who loves gnomes and elves! Week One ~Introductions ~Read "I Love You Like" by Lori Joy Smith and "How to be Friends with this Gnome" by Erin Savory together ~Gnome Yoga ~Gnome drawing time ~Sharing Week Two ~Read The Tomten ~Gnome Yoga ~Story drawing time ~Sharing Week Three ~Read "The Elves and the Shoemaker" by Ronne Randall together ~Elf Yoga ~Story drawing time ~Sharing Week Four ~Read "The Little Red Elf" by Barbara Barbieri McGrath and "The Two Little Elves" by Hugh Lupton (these are longer stories so students may want to draw/have some modeling clay/beeswax while I read) ~Elf Drawing Time ~Sharing As a Waldorf librarian and teacher for six years, I love to share stories and tales with young children around the world here on Outschool!
