Class Experience

Students will learn how to play the song "Wake Me Up When September Ends" by Green Day. 
On our ukuleles, we will learn the main guitar line from the song.

Difficulty Level: Easy - Medium. This song will require the student to be able to fret two different strings at one time.

Students will be provided music sheets that will be available for pdf download within the Outschool classroom. Please have sheets either printed out or available for viewing on a device (computer, smartphone, tablet). 

Reading music is not required; we will be following an easy-to-read ukulele "tab" style sheet. **HOWEVER** this is not intended to be an "intro to ukulele" type of lesson. For an introductory lesson, check out my "Tune In to Music" ukulele class.

Learning Goals

Students will learn a very popular riff using an arpeggiating pattern in their picking hand while transitioning between different chord shapes in their fretting hand.

I’ve been teaching private lessons for the better part of ten years.

As a self taught musician - turned - instructor,  I aim to present learning music as less of a task and more of a gateway into the world of art as a whole. Sure, I tried the beginners books and things of the like. But what really fanned the flame was learning a song that I already enjoyed by a band I already loved. I take the same approach in my teaching. I want to, as quickly as possible, have the learner playing songs they will enjoy.
