Wading Through the Water Cycle

In this one-time course, learners will focus on why we have the water cycle, the four stages of the water cycle, and complete a hands-on experiment so they can personally observe the water cycle on their own.

Description

Class Experience

Students will be taught about the driving force behind the water cycle as well as the four main stages of the water cycle (evaporation/transpiration, condensation, precipitation, and runoff/downhill flow). Students will start the class by singing and dancing to a song about the water cycle. We will then learn the material in depth, including hand motions for each stage of the water cycle. We will finish the class by making an at-home experiment of the water cycle that they can watch over the...

Students will learn the driving force behind the water cycle and be able to describe each of the four stages of the water cycle.

One plastic bag (sandwich or quart size), access to water, one permanent marker (preferably black), tape (any kind), access to a window facing the Sun
Optional: a notebook or piece of paper and pencil to take notes
