Children will learn and review the parts of speech - nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs - through funny fill-in-the-blank stories and letters. We will begin with introducing ourselves, a quick check-in, and a short discussion of what makes a noun (someone or something), an adjective (describes a noun), a verb (doing word), and an adverb (describes a verb or an adjective). We will then jump into an interactive on-screen activity to sort words into nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. Finally and for the majority of the class, we will play with stories that have blanks for each part of speech. Only one person will be able to see the whole story while the others are providing words. When we read the final stories, hilarity ensues! This is a effective and wildly fun way to learn an essential aspect of grammar that children will need to edit their own writing, analyse literature, and learn other languages.
Learning Goals
Children will learn nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs and be able to use them in the correct ways.

Supply List
The interactive on-screen activity will be on Nearpod. Learners will benefit from a second screen for this activity (a tablet, Chromebook, or laptop works well). Please advise if your learner does not have a second screen. This is absolutely fine; I will adapt the activity to be all on one screen.
