One of the most wonderful things about the Star Wars universe is the diversity of locations you get to experience as you enjoy watching the movies. Each new place helps build a sense of wonder and makes the galaxy truly feel larger then life! But the really amazing thing is that every location in Star Wars is inspired by real world places and natural wonders. Together we will travel across our own planet and learn about the amazing places that are used in some of your favorite Star Wars settings. We will talk about the geography and geology of each location and why it makes Earth one of the most special places in the universe! At each location we will discuss the unique geological features that created these places, the different plants and animals that live there, and the people that call these places home. On our tour we will visit the: - Islands of Scarif (Laamu Atoll, Maldives) - Forest Moon of Endor (Redwood Forest, California) - Volcanic Mustafar (Mount Etna, Italy) - Jungles of Kashyyk (Phang Nga Bay, Thailand) - Mysterious Ahch-To (Skellig Michael, Ireland) *Note: Our flight plan my change based on student interest! The goal is to help students learn a variety of different geological features, but not to overwhelm them with too much information. The class will consist of a slide presentation combined with visiting these locations via Google Earth. We will also watch different clips that show off these locations in the films (nothing with excessive action or flashing lights).
Learning Goals
Students will discover the diversity and beauty of our own planet Earth and learn more about the ways in which natural forces over millions of years combine to create these amazing locations. They will also see some of the native planets and animals that live in these locations, as well as the people and cultures that have made a home there.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello there! My name is Sean and I love to teach fun, engaging classes generally centered around history, science, and storytelling! Many of my classes involve some type of activity, story-telling, reading, writing or some other unique assignment (such as map-making!) to help students feel more invested in the material and get excited about learning more each day.
The people I learn the most from and respect the most are those who are truly passionate and engaged with the subjects they love. This is where Outschool shines because no one is forced to teach a class they don't like or teach in a way that isn't interesting to them! I find that when teachers can effectively communicate their passion about subjects to their students everyone is uplifted and comes away having grown smarter and wiser.
With every class my goal is to help your students develop powerful habits that transcend the courses they take with me. Creative thinking, reading comprehension, creative and persuasive writing, pattern recognition and logic are just some of the talents students will develop over the duration of the courses they choose. I can't wait to start working together! See you soon!
