Class Experience

In a one-on-one lesson, student vocal technique skills will be evaluated and lesson goals will be discussed. One-on-one lessons are tailored to each student's needs and goals. We will then begin in the area the student would benefit most from.

A typical lesson consists of vocal technique (warm-ups) and repertoire (song) work. If students desire to learn sight reading and ear training, we will work on this skill as well (no experience is necessary).

Students may also choose to prepare for the Royal Conservatory of Music Certificate program exams. This will include preparing songs, ear training, sight reading and working on musicianship.
Learning Goals
Some topics that may be covered are:

-Vocal Technique to keep you from developing bad habits such as straining

-Song selection to make sure you are singing the the perfect song for your age and range

-Foreign Language diction (did you know that a very popular American musical, South Pacific, features french sung by the young Ngana and Jerome?)

-Breathing Technique to make sure you an sing through lines without running out of breath!

-Performance and Acting work to help you tell your story to the audience

-Audition Preparation to make sure you are as ready as can be!
