55 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
During this class, students will learn how their favourite video game characters come to life through voice acting. We will learn the basic techniques including breathing, vocal warmups and how to protect your voice. We will try dialogue, barks, battle chatter and ONOS and learn how to read a script. Learners will practice lending their voice to a variety of video game heroes and NPC's. We will explore different genres and styles of games. We’ll play group games, and each learner will get a chance to read parts in pairs and independently. As a professional actor and huge video game fan, I will demonstrate each of the techniques and guide learners through all of the exercises. We'll look at clips, view a presentation, and take turns participating in games and exercises. Finally we will end class with a discussion all about our favourite video games! There is no experience required for this class, just curiosity and a willingness to try new things.
Learning Goals
Students will be introduced to the basic techniques of voice acting for video games. They will learn safe warmups, how to care for their voice and industry standard of termanology. They will put these into practice with exercises, games and script reading.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hey there! My name is Cassie and I am a professional actor and arts educator. I love to share my passion for theatre and film with students of all ages. I teach acting classes that cover the basics of acting, improv and confident communication skills. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Studies from the University of Guelph (Ontario, Canada). I also hold a Advanced Performance Diploma from George Brown Theatre School (Ontario, Canada). Recently, I have been taking voice over classes and on camera classes to keep my skills sharp.
I believe that theatre and acting is for everyone! Whether you want to be in the next Avengers movie or if you just want to meet some friends and work on your communication skills, you can do it! Through fun games, quick thinking and skill building, we can help you gain creative confidence in yourself. A fun fact about me, is that I love to travel and I have been a tour guide in 3 different Canadian cities, but I'm still not great at giving directions.
