Class Experience
Intermediate - Beginner Level
Through private voice lessons, your singer will learn to sing with the goal of long-term vocal health. We will do this through tailored vocal exercises and repertoire. Your student may choose to learn a variety of styles or choose just one. Ms Abbigail is classically trained and has years of experience teaching and performing popular styles. We will establish long-term and short-term singing goals together. Each lesson will be focused on what the student would like to work on that day, and...
Students will establish healthy vocal techniques, effective practice skills, and gain an appreciation for musical diversity.
Miss Abbigail has a BA in Music Business and started teaching young musicians in 2013.
Students are expected to practice at least 2 hours per week depending on the student. Practice does not always mean singing, it can mean learning about the music as a whole. We will learn effective practice habits in our lessons to make every minute count.
Each student will need the following: -pencil and paper to write notes -water -quiet room to sing and freely move about in. - a device to play music on for accompaniment. For ease of use, we often use YouTube for both accompaniment and lyric sources. If there is concern with YouTube, you can also choose to print lyrics and supply another device to play accompaniment music on. -For best quality audio, I highly recommend using a desktop or laptop computer to take voice lessons on. Zoom audio settings are not as easily altered on a tablet and are not recommended.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
The teacher will write notes and base lessons on notes from previous lessons. There will not be a formal assessment process but there will be a self-reflection process throughout the lesson and especially after performances.
25 minutes per class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
We often use YouTube videos as a source for lyrics and accompaniment. The use of YouTube is not required but it will mean that the student must supply their own source of accompaniment and lyrics. This may mean printing the lyrics ahead of time and having a separate device that can play the songs we are working on.
