Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
This is a workshop for students to learn acting skills through voiceover work. Most actors find it exciting and way more fun to not have to show their faces and act only with their voice. We will learn how to do this using all of our favorite animated works.

And, depending on class interest, we can even venture into other areas such as narration and commercials.

Every class will begin with an exercise or game to connect and unwind together. After a short mini-lesson, we will then rehearse together and in breakout rooms and share our work with each other. I love working with actors and sharing ways to make performances stronger.

This is a safe and supportive environment where risks are encouraged and laughs are had. I truly believe we can learn the most when we are having fun. We will work with and make new friends as we rehearse and share our work together.

Constructive critiques and enthusiastic praise will always be encouraged to develop critical thinking skills and build our ensemble.

This class is appropriate for people who have never acted before as well as those earning a living as a professional actor. And, I promise it will always be a lot of fun. :) It's even a great choice if you don't plan on being an actor and just want to learn useful skills like empathy and collaboration. You will build confidence as you learn to portray different emotions and characters through your voice.

NOTE: This is an ongoing class. Students are free to come and go as they please.

Our weekly focus will always be updated here and is based on learner interest and requests!

September 5: Frozen: Playing Characters
September 12: Animated Star Wars: Tempo and Volume
September 19: My Neighbor Totoro: Playing Action and Emotions
September 26: The Owl House: High Stakes!

I've been directing professionally and teaching acting for longer than I care to admit!

One of my favorite jobs was working at the Museum of Television and Radio in Beverly Hills. We would work with young people to record a radio play each week.
