Beginner Level
This course is a great introduction for students who want to explore voice acting through characterization. Each class will include warm-ups and performance of a radio play. The radio plays will require students to perform multiple roles and create some of their own music and/or sound effects using only their voices! For the last two classes, students will audition for all roles, prepare for their assigned music and/or sound effect cues, rehearse, and perform. Students do not need to be memorized. Note: All students are expected to participate in all warm-ups, exercises, and performances. Parents will receive feedback about their child's overall performance after the last class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn:
1. Proper voice technique for safety, character development, and performance.
2. How to work as an ensemble during rehearsal and the performance of the radio play.

Each radio play script will be posted to the classroom page prior to class time.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education at the University of Utah. I have over 25 years of teaching experience in both traditional and nontraditional school settings. And, I currently hold a teaching license in secondary education in Theatre.
