Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
It's a WORD JUNGLE out there! There are so many interesting words in the English language, where did they come from? How do we pronounce them and what do they mean? Let's find out! In this 6 week self paced class, learners will be introduced to 5 vocabulary words within each of the 6 lessons (so 30 words total). This class is best for learners around the ages of 8-12. Each lesson, Teacher Amanda will provide a printable PDF including the 5 words of the lesson. Learners/grown ups will be able to print that out and utilize it for each of the 6 lessons. In each lesson, Teacher Amanda will include a short pre-recorded video that will introduce the 5 words, review their meanings/word etymology, spell each word, use each word in a sentence, and discuss the creative writing activity assignment. For the creative writing assignment, learners will be given a topic and the 5 words and will be able to think creatively how they can write a paragraph or short story (can be 3-5 sentences or even longer if your learner chooses) to include each of the 5 vocabulary words from the lesson. They can make it silly, fun, serious, imaginative, or whatever they choose! Learners are encouraged to share a completed photo of their creative writing activity (if they are comfortable doing so), Teacher Amanda would love to see their wonderful work and discuss their story if they would like! This class could take approximately 6 weeks to complete if one lesson is completed each week.
