Teacher expertise and credentials
Thank you for considering me to teach your child! I have 15 years of experience teaching students with a large variety of strengths and needs. I believe each and every student is unique. My goal in the classroom is to tap into a student's strengths and interests to inspire success.
I have my Bachelors Degree in Special Education and have taught students from preschool through 9th grade. I have many years of experience working with students with Autism, Learning Disabilities, Cognitive Disabilities, Speech/Language needs, and Emotional/Behavioral Disorders. I also have many years of experience teaching general education students, gifted students, and students who are learning English as a second language. I have taught in the public school setting, private school setting, and I have taught over 2,500 classes in the online, virtual setting. I am in awe of the progress my students have made learning in the virtual classroom. While I have taught many subjects over the years, my two favorite subjects to teach are English and Art.
Along with my professional teaching career, I have been crafting for over 20 years. From sewing to paper crafts to clay, I love inspiring young learners how to create using their hands. Over the years I have taught many students how to sew various garments, embroider beautiful designs, sculpt mini masterpieces with clay, and create keepsake paper crafts through the art of quilling. I am excited to share my experience and knowledge with new students through the Outschool platform. I hope to inspire my students to be producers of beautiful work. I hope to give my students the space to express their uniqueness and give them opportunities to learn a skill they can treasure into the future.
In my free time I love playing board games with my husband and four children. We have a collection of over 100 board games. Currently my favorite board game is AZUL. What is your favorite game to play? I'd love to hear about it in our first class together!
