Vocabulary Fun With Games (Vocab)!

In this ongoing vocabulary class, students will learn five new vocabulary words each week while having fun, being silly, and playing games. 

I will start off each class by introducing the words of the week in a fun and entertaining way like a drumroll or silly voice. As each word is introduced I will teach the meaning, part of speech, prefix, suffix, antonym, and synonyms of the words. Once all of the words have been introduced we will practice the word by playing a game such as I Spy, Sketch it, Jeopardy, etc. 

I will also encourage students to continue to practice each week's words by providing worksheets and additional activities to complete throughout the rest of the week and earn points. The student with the most points at the end of the month will earn a vocabulary champion certificate.

Below is a breakdown of the words that will be taught each week:

September 1-5th: abolish, absurd, abuse, access, accomplish
September 12-16th: achievement, aggressive, alternate, altitude, antagonist
September 19-23rd: anxious, apparent, approximate, aroma, assume
September 26th-30th: astound, available, avalanche, banquet, beverage
October 3-7th: bland, blizzard, budge, bungle, cautiously
October 10-14th: combine, companion, crave, compassion, compensate
October 17-21th:  comply, compose, concept, confident, convert
October 24-28h: courteous, decline, dedicate, deprive, detect
October 31-Nov 4th: dictate, document, duplicate, edible, endanger
November 7-11th: escalate,  evade,  exasperate, excavate,  exert
