Description

Class Experience

At the start of class familiar words that are related to the lesson root/s are explored.  Formal introduction to the root starts with its identification, its meaning, and its relationship to other words and concepts that are applicable.  The student texts cover some words in form of a dictionary-like entry.  Familiar words and Challenge words are explored discussed and explained. Activities are started in class and completed as a homework assignment.  

Root words from Latin and Greek are...

Students will gain working knowledge and skills to manipulate root words in their use of written and spoken language.
Understanding of the broader meaning and context of using root words, will be greatly expanded.
Identifying the origin of words and connecting literary and historical contexts are important for a broader understanding of its impact on language and how, and why this is still in use today.

Keyword activities and lesson exercises are assigned as homework.  Completing the lessons in the student workbook is easy and within the reach of all  students.  Students with no previous exposure may initially spend more time outside this class.  This is due to the time and speed it takes to research the unknown words.

Composition Book or Loose Leaf Paper and 2" binder

Optional to suit learner needs:
Depending on the student's learning style and preferences materials may differ and parents can provide materials such as flashcards to write on, any recording device, tablet or audio recording assistance.

Activity and test materials are available for every lesson in the classroom.

30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
