Students are encouraged to take notes, during class, of the meaning of the words and the information we discuss and learn about each word.Class Experience
US Grade 2 - 5
Using the outline and activities below, our class will engage in a discussion to deepen students' understanding of the meaning of each word from the lesson. These engaging activities will promote students to fluently use and interpret each word with a stronger understanding. A vocabulary document will be provided in the classroom the day prior to class so that students can record our notes from class to support their understanding for each word. They can use a writing journal if you are unable to print the document. LESSON FORMAT ~Meet and greet! ~Introduce one word at a time (4-5 words per class) using a slide presentation 1. Define each word. 2. See a picture that matches each word. 3. Read each word in an example sentence provided. 4. Learning activities for engagement: Teacher asks for synonyms, antonyms, lists related to each word, act out each word, and more. ***If time allows, learners collaborate to create a short paragraph using all of the words of the day. ~Review the words of the lesson. With my enthusiasm and the engaging vocabulary activities, learners will have FUN learning new academic vocabulary words that will support their reading comprehension, essay and descriptive writing, and English skills. Please print the vocabulary document prior to class. I will post that document in the classroom the day before class. (any piece of paper for notes will be sufficient if you are unable to print this vocabulary document)
