In this 8-session course, rising 4th and 5th grade learners will use strategies to decode and determine the meaning of unknown words in grade level text. Goals will include vocabulary acquisition and gaining confidence in decoding text.

Simple homework assignments will be offered each day, to practice the skills taught and acquired during classes. Homework will not be required or assessed, although learners will have an opportunity to share their work with the group.Assessment

Welcome to Vocabulary Sessions for Rising 4th and 5th Grade: Prefix Family Sessions! Learning Goals
Learners will grow working vocabulary, acquire new strategies to comprehend reading, and increase reading fluency, thereby gaining confidence. Emphasis will be on learning Families of Prefixes and using that knowledge to apply to unknown words.
