Class Experience

Students will learn new vocabulary words as they focus on word attributes: part of speech, definitions, synonyms, antonyms. Also, we will break apart words by their prefixes, roots and suffixes so students can begin to determine meaning from higher level words using word analysis skills.
Once during the week-long course each student will present a vocabulary word with part of speech, definition, synonyms and antonyms and a related visual to the class.
Index cards or a small notebook
Colored Pencils or Markers
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will informally assess students throughout class and students will have the opportunity to present their understanding of word analysis to the class on their presentation day.
2 hours 20 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Each "summer camp" session a new children's novel and author will be shared to encourage diverse and board reading options.
