Vocabulary Bingo: Fall! (One Time Class)

Fall months hosts an array of themed vocabulary words learners can analyze and discuss. In this one-time class, “Vocabulary Bingo: Fall!” learners will discuss fall-themed vocabulary words while playing Bingo games. 

The lesson would include a short discussion about each vocabulary word as they are called. Learners are called on to use the vocabulary word in a sentence. The purpose is for students to learn the definition of each vocabulary word, their spelling, and to use the vocabulary word in a sentence. Learners also share their knowledge about each word and how it relates to them and their experiences.

Below is a breakdown of the instructional format: 

Before class: learners can download, print, and preview their Bingo cards to generate discussion ideas. These vocabulary Bingo cards will create topics that occur in January. 

Ice Breaker & Introduction:  discussion game called, “What’s your favorite topic/idea for the Fall months?” This face-to-face discussion is where learners share their knowledge of the happenings in the Fall months. This is a discussion that welcomes activities or topics from other countries.

Vocabulary Discussion: As the Vocabulary Bingo game is played, learners discuss the definition of each vocabulary word and use the word in a sentence.

Share Out: learners tally how many games they win and share with other learners how the Vocabulary Bingo: Fall game increased their vocabulary knowledge.
