US Grade 4 - 5
In this ongoing English language class, we will focus on one new vocabulary word each week. By focusing on a single word, learners will have the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of that word. Learners can join this ongoing class at any time, as these classes do not build upon each other. Each class learners will be introduced to one new 5th grade vocabulary word. We will discuss the definition of the new vocabulary word, as well as how it is used. Learners will then use drawing to share and express their understanding of the new vocabulary word. Drawing not only requires students to activate their critical thinking skills, but also makes the learning more engaging. Vocabulary Word List (by week)* 12/19-12/25 : urban 12/26-01/01 : desperate 01/02-01/08 : elapse 01/09-01/15 : consider *This list will be updated as new classes are added to the schedule. This ongoing class is suitable for advanced 4th graders, on-level 5th graders, struggling 6th graders, English language learners (ELL/ESL), and any level of drawing skills (i.e. stick figures welcome).
