In this beginning Spanish course, students will learn to use the simple present tense and vocabulary in Spanish. The course consists of 12 classes; each class is 30 minutes. This class is appropriate for students who have taken my course "¡Vámonos! Beginning Spanish Level 3," or other beginning Spanish students (see the Level 3 class description). The goal of this course is to have your child speaking Spanish as much as possible in a practical context. We will use visuals (via props and slides), gestures and games to remember what we've learned. We will keep things simple, yet practical, learning basic sentence structures with helpful vocabulary.¡Vámonos, tu puedes! Let's go, you can do it! Below is a list of the content that will be covered in each lesson: Lesson 1 - Review Sentences: talking about yourself and the house Vocabulary: review Lesson 2 - Review Sentences: talking about the house, conjugating the verb "tener" (to have) Vocabulary: review Lesson 3 - "Ir" Verbs Sentences: conjugating verbs with "ir" endings Vocabulary: common "ir" verbs Lesson 4 - Vivir Sentences: ¿Dónde vives? Yo vivo en ___. Vocabulary: review Lesson 5 - Review and Reading Lesson 6 - What I Like to Eat Sentences: ¿Qué te gusta hacer? Me gusta ___. ¿Qué te gusta comer? Me gusta comer ___. Vocabulary: la manzana, la fruta, las verduras, las papas, el arroz, el pollo, el helado, el pastel Lesson 7 - "Er" Verbs Sentences: conjugating verbs with "er" endings Vocabulary: common "er" verbs Lesson 8 - Talking About Meals Sentences: ¿Qué comes en el desayuno? Yo como ___ en el desayuno. Vocabulary: comer, el desayuno, el almuerzo, la cena Lesson 10 - Review and Reading Lesson 10: "Ar" Verbs Sentences: conjugating verbs with "ar" endings Vocabulary: common "ar" verbs Lesson 11: How much does it cost? Sentences: ¿Cuánto cuesta la pizza? La pizza cuesta 10 dólares. ¿Cuánto cuestan las uvas? Las uvas cuestan 4 dólares. Learning Goals
Students will learn to conjugate regular verbs in Spanish. Students will learn food vocabulary and learn to talk about mealtimes using the simple present tense.
