In this beginning Spanish course, students will learn to use basic grammar, vocabulary and reading in Spanish. The course consists of 12 classes; each class is 30 minutes. This class is appropriate for students who have taken my course "¡Vámonos! Beginning Spanish Level 2," or beginning Spanish students who can introduce and talk about themselves and their daily schedule, know the alphabet and letter sounds in Spanish, and know the numbers, colors, days, months. The goal of this course is to have your child speaking Spanish as much as possible in a practical context. We will use visuals (via props and slides), gestures and games to remember what we've learned. We will keep things simple, yet practical, learning basic sentence structures and grammar with helpful vocabulary.¡Vámonos, tu puedes! Let's go, you can do it! Below is a list of the content that will be covered in each lesson: Lesson 1: Review Lesson 2: Saying the Date Sentences: ¿Qué dia es? Es ___. ¿Qué mes es? Es ___. ¿Qué tiempo hace en ___? Hace ___ en ___. ¿Qué fecha es? Es lunes, el 29 de noviembre. Vocabulary: dieciséis, diecisiete, dieciocho, diecinueve, veinte, veintiuno, veintidos... , treinta, treinta y uno Lesson 3: Counting to 100 Vocabulary: cuarenta, cincuenta, sesenta, setenta, ochenta, noventa, cien Lesson 4: Review and Reading Lesson 5: Pronouns Grammar: conjugating "estar" (to be) Vocabulary: yo, tú, él, ella, nosotros, ellos, ellas Lesson 6: Prepositions of Place Sentences: ¿Dónde está el pájaro? El pájaro está ___. Vocabulary: delante de, detrás de, al lado de, dentro de, debajo de, encima de, sobre, entre Lesson 7: Rooms in the House Sentences: ¿Dónde está la cocina? Learning Goals
In Spanish, students will be able to (using complete sentences):
- Say the date
- Count to 100
- Use the verbs estar, tener, hacer, limpiar
- Talk about the locations of rooms and things in a house using prepositions of place
