With this visual journal, also called junk journals, mixed media art class, you will be introduced to creating an ombre, or an even blend from one color to another in your visual journal. Week 1Lesson 1Magazine Fade How ToThis lesson focuses on a specific collage technique, creating a magazine fade (also called ombre) transitioning from one color to another. A demonstration video is included as well as guides for students to reference as they practice this fun collage technique.
- Six steps to create a magazine ombre are covered. Students will create one page in their visual journal that incorporates a magazine collage fade as the background.
I can't remember not having art in my life. I was raised by an art teacher, got my bachelor's and master's in art education, taught art-focused summer camps, volunteered in art classrooms, and taught high school art for over 12 years. Now I develop art lessons and curriculums for other teachers or homeschool parents to implement in their art classrooms. Used hardback book to work in, magazines, glue, scissors, additional flat materials such as printed pictures, scrapbook paper, and similar they want to collage with.
Students will control what the subject matter is in their own artwork and I don't show anything that could be upsetting or above a G rating. Students may need access to tools such as scissors.
I will provide everything students need to reference, although access to Pinterest, YouTube, and similar can be helpful to get ideas.
