** NOTE: Please ensure that your child has their own copy of these books - either the first graphic novel (we’ll only be discussing chapters 1-2) or the individual comic issues, both are fine! (If you are an Amazon Prime member, they are also available via Kindle Unlimited.) ** Beware the kitten holy! In this one-time trial book club, Lumberjanes fans of all stripes will join a virtual Roanoke Cabin with their very own camp counselor Jen to talk about the first two issues in the comic book...
Learners will create new friendships with the other members of their “cabin”, and discuss topics like friendship, loyalty, bravery, and other characteristics and experiences found in the Lumberjanes books.
I am a huge comic book nerd and longtime Lumberjanes fan. I can’t wait to talk about every last detail of this amazing series, share my own insight, and learn from each other!
The designated chapters should be read before class, but no actual homework is required.
Learners MUST have their own copy of the first Lumberjanes graphic novel, OR the first two comic issues - either is fine!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
The Lumberjanes comics are rated 8+ on the Common Sense Media website, but parents are encouraged to research the books themselves and ensure that the themes presented in the stories align with their own values and their child’s developmental stage.
