Join us as we venture through Kyushu, renowned for its volcanic landscapes, rich history, and vibrant culture. Whether you're a nature lover, a history buff, or simply eager to explore Japan’s hidden gems, this class is perfect for you!

①Uncover the geological wonders of Kyushu, from its dramatic volcanic peaks such as Mount Aso to its lush valleys, hot springs, and coastal cliffs.
②Explore Kyushu’s fascinating history, from the ancient kingdoms of Yamato and Satsuma to its role as a gateway for international trade and cultural exchange.
③Discover Kyushu’s cultural diversity, influenced by interactions with neighboring countries such as Korea, China, and Southeast Asia, and reflected in its architecture, cuisine, and festivals.
④Learn about Kyushu’s spiritual heritage, including its sacred sites such as the historic shrines of Dazaifu and the tranquil gardens of Kumamoto Castle.
⑤Experience Kyushu’s culinary delights, from the savory flavors of tonkotsu ramen and karaage to the delicate sweetness of Kagoshima’s black pork and Saga’s Arita ceramics.
⑥Discuss the challenges and opportunities facing Kyushu today, from regional revitalization and sustainable tourism to preserving cultural traditions and addressing environmental concerns.

🏫 Class Details 🏫

★ Date & Time: August 3rd, Saturday at 10:00 to 10:50 am EST (and additional dates if there is enough interest)
★ Platform: The class will be conducted using Zoom, YouTube, and Google Slides for an immersive and interactive learning experience.
★ Assessment: After the class, there will be an assessment to test your understanding and knowledge of Kyushu’s geography, history, and culture.
★ Series Information: This class is part of our “A Look at Japan” series, covering various regions including Tokyo, Hokkaido, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima & Nagasaki, and Okinawa. Future classes may explore additional regions such as Nara, Shikoku, Mt. Fuji, Yokohama, Nikko, Niigata, and Tohoku, depending on interest.
