US Grade Preschool - 1
In this class, students will participate in a virtual wilderness adventure through a temperate deciduous forest. Along the way they will hear and see a variety of plants and animals. We will stop and discuss fun facts about each one, as well as how to identify them in the wild. We will also learn basic earth stewardship along the journey. Plants and animals included are listed in the learning goals section. My classes are high energy, adaptable, and highly interactive. Neurodiverse learners are more than welcome to attend as this course utilizes a variety of learning styles (visual, musical, tactile kinesthetic, auditory, and even video!) Learners will have ample opportunity to ask questions, and there will be time throughout the class to share personal stories with peers pertaining to experiences in nature or favorite plants and animals!
Learning Goals
- develop passion for wildlife, flora, and fauna of the temperate forest
- identify and appreciate the following plants and animals: oak tree, gray squirrel, downy woodpecker, toad, white tailed deer, mountain laurel, dragonfly, moss, and owls.
- understand basic earth stewardship principles such as pack in/pack out, litter management, crust preservation, and kindness toward critters
