Class Experience

Let's take a virtual 3-day trip around Japan. For this trip, we will virtually visit the following locations: Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto. Then, we will talk about where to go and what to do in Japan during the spring.

Class Schedule for our 3-Day Virtual Trip to Japan

Day 1 | Tokyo
Let's get to know each other and then "fly" to Tokyo. There is a lot to see and do! We will focus on the following locations: Meiji Shrine, Yoyogi Park, Harajuku, Shibuya, Shinjuku, Ginza, Akihabara, and Mount Fuji.

Day 2 | Osaka, Kobe, & Kyoto
Explore the famous Osaka Castle, Minami (Namba), and Dotombori District in Osaka. Then, we will check out Kobe Nunobiki Herb Gardens, Kobe Harborland, and Mount Rokko. Then, we will gaze at the impressive temples and shrines in Kyoto. We will also learn about geishas and tea ceremonies.

Day 3 | Okinawa
Learn about popular activities, foods, and traditions that travelers can experience on Japan's southernmost island.

This class is taught with Google Earth and Canva presentation slides with images and video clips from the places in Japan that we will talk about during each meeting. We will also play Gimkit and/or Kahoot if time allows and if students are interested.

There is a lot of places to visit in Japan, so we won't be able to talk about every single place that is well-worth a visit. If there is demand for it, I will gladly offer this class again and talk about more locations.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this class. No previous knowledge about Japan is required.

I lived in Japan for 2 years and I have been lucky enough to go on vacation there two times since then. Most recently I went to Japan in 2017. I have many friends who are Japanese currently living in Japan. When researching for this class, I use information from my friends who are from Japan and my experiences traveling in Japan.
