This 5 day course covers the basics of the samurai sword arts. Inspired by Japanese martial arts and the Russian Martial Art Systema, This meditative art that helps develop breathing, movement, focus, coordination, and spatial awareness.

Description
Class Experience
The takeaways of sword work is an ability to focus with surgical precision, act from a calm place, be aware of your surroundings, and use your imagination to solve problems.
None. Although practice between classes is encouraged.
Martial Arts Belt (any color) or any belt that can fit tightly and doesn't easily come loose. Wooden Bokken Training Sword (with sheath) or smooth stick. Should be easily taken out, and stay secure when put back in. No assessment. But there will be a demonstration of kata on the last day. Students will have the option of demonstrating one of the kata learned in class or one that they make up themselves.
2 hours 55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Make sure the room where the child is working has enough room to swing a sword, go to the ground and get up without bumping into anything hazardous. Please no real, metal, or sharpened swords for this class. A wooden or plastic sword with a scabbard (sheath) is recommended. Sword height should not be any taller than the navel of the student.
