Learners will gain publishing skills via hands on experience with a real website! The senior editor team manages the site. They approve all submissions to the website. They implement design changes. They write the most hilarious stories!

Class Experience
We begin our meetings with a improv or creative game. We make up some silly stories and draw ridiculous pictures to help get our creative energy flowing! Then we get to work writing the paper. We have been working on a spoof story called Worm's Business. Each learner writes only 3 words at a time! We never know exactly where it's headed! Projects are learner driven and materials will vary based on learner's goals.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Posts made by learners in this class are publicly available to anyone on the internet. We post using WordPress and each learner will require* an email address to log in to the site editing tools. Learners will log on to the Virtual School Paper WordPress account to upload photos, videos and text for publishing. Invitations to join the account will be emailed (this is the ONLY email of the class, all other communication will be in the Outschool classroom and Zoom meetings). Learners may use a parent's email to log in to WordPress. *Learners may also opt out of the editing role, and have the teacher publish their ideas. -Please review all content with your learner before posting. Message me as soon as possible if you want a post removed. -Please discuss your family's beliefs and values about internet privacy and online safety. Help your learner decide what they are comfortable sharing.
