Using Vex VR, students will gain an understanding of the design and build process used in robotics. Additionally, this club will also introduce students to programming concepts and the programming language used by Vex. In this class, students will learn how to access the web based, virtual reality VEX platform Students Will Learn: How to use coding blocks to program a virtual robot How to build a robot How to program a robot virtually How to program using drag and drop coding The syntax for some programming languages How to problem solve and work in a team .This class is for beginners who have never coded before. .The class is taught using a step by step approach and we answer questions as we code. .This class is very interactive. Students will learn by doing. .No downloads are required. All platforms are web based. .Students will need to have access to an internet connection and can work on desktop or laptop computer. Week 1 - Make Your Robot Come to Life Forward/backwards Pen (drawing) controls Turning Drawing Geometric shapes Drawing Numbers Write Your Initials Week 2 - Regular polygons Make your robot move Create geometric shapes Change pen color Week 3 - Maze Craze - Part 1 Robot movement Subroutines! Mazes Week 4 - Maze Craze - Part 2 Mazes Week 5 - Storm the Castle Scanning Finding location Sweeping to Clear Week 6 - - Dynamic Castle Crasher Distance Sensor Front Eye Down Eye Week 7 - Factory reset - Disk Transport - Part I Pick up the disk Use the Magnet! Set to “boost” to pick up Set to “drop” to set down Week 8 - Factory reset - Disk Transport - Part II Sorting the disks VEX Robotics creates tools that will be used to shape the learners of today into the problem solving leaders of tomorrow. Teacher expertise and credentials
All my life, I have had a fascination and interest in computing and technology. I have always enjoyed keeping up-to-date with the latest advances in technology and have remained amazed at the speed of computerized developments over the past few years.
For as long as I can remember, I have been using computers at school and at home. When I connected my computer to the internet several years ago, I discovered another enthralling world for me to explore. Since then I have gained teaching experience with several applications, such as: desktop applications, web applications and mobile applications.
Presently, as a Computer Science and an Engineering teacher, I lead my students through creative design and problem-solving processes, guiding them to use programming in activities like building their own apps, websites, and video games.
