Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
This is a one-time Virtual Tour class on the archaeological site of the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt, within the context of the Ancient Egyptian Empire and the modern Middle Eastern country of Egypt. Students will use Nearpod Field Trips to explore the Pyramids via Virtual Reality Tours. As they explore the sites virtually, I will teach about the history of the site, its origins, its excavation, and its current role in Egypt.

The first 5 minutes of the class will introduce students to the Nearpod Field Trip Virtual Reality platform.
Then the tour begins. Not everyone can hop on a plane and travel to all the wonderful sites around the world. This is an avenue to explore sites students have never visited, or want to visit again. The majority of class time will have students viewing different VR images of the site and explore as close to as if they were there. Throughout this, as I guide them through its history, students will be able to ask questions and discuss the site and its history. At the end of the class will be a short reflection activity on what they learned.

This class uses Nearpod with Youtube links embedded for the tour and virtual reality experience. Students' device should be able to play regular youtube videos, not just kid's videos. Nearpod can be accessed via the link I will provide in the classroom or via join.nearpod.com and the code I will provide. If a student is using a tablet, ipad, or phone they should download the free nearpod app and use the code I will provide.

Travel with me to Egypt, as we explore the history and mysteries of the Pyramids of Giza.
