In this ongoing playgroup, learners will practice social skills, play, share and incorporate basic learning skills with others in the same age group. The playgroup offers a place to socialize when other options aren't available. #superstar

Class Experience

Students will engage with the teacher and other students through play, stories, drawing, dance, show and tell, and other fun activities. The focus of this group is to practice age appropriate social skills and provide an opportunity to socialize/play with other students of the same age group. Additionally, the class will incorporate basic age appropriate educational activities (abc's, 123's, colors, shapes, etc) through games and stories, but the emphasis will be on play and interacting with other students. Students who feel more comfortable observing & listening during class are welcome to draw and participate at his/her own pace.

For parents: I hope to provide an alternative play option for your children when other social activities are not possible. Although this is an ongoing course, it is absolutely okay to sign up for just one class if you cannot commit to weekly classes. I am listing this as an ongoing course one day a week, but I am willing to add time/days/frequency. Please feel free to request times and I will see if I am available to make a group on the time/day requested.

(If your student is interested in a certain topic, please feel free to send me a message and I would love to create a class session with that topic).

note: If your student is the only one enrolled as class approaches, my preschool age son will happily join the class to make sure the class has other friends ready to play.

Note: Since this is primarily a play-based class with other younger learners, I generally will not share recordings for safety and privacy reasons. However, if it is possible based on class material, I can sometimes create at home activity sheets from my slides for learners, who may have missed class. So feel free to reach out to me if that is something that you might be interested in.

The teacher will occasionally use excerpts of story books and quick transition video clips (with author's/performer's/creator's permissions) to introduce an activity or allow the students to move/play a game. These will only be used as supporting materials to provide opportunities for social engagement/movement and will not be used for long periods of the class.
(ex. Thelearningstationmusic.com & Jackhartmann.com music videos. See sources sections for a complete list of updated video and book materials used and how to find these sources yourself.)
Learning Goals
Students will practice age appropriate social skills; such as taking turns, listening, asking questions, following directions and being good friends. They will practice these skills in a fun playgroup through teacher guidance. The students will have an opportunity to practice basic learning skills (letters, numbers, etc) also, but this will not the main focus of the group.

Parental Guidance
If student is new to Outschool/Zoom, please be in the room or available to help student with mute/unmute buttons if needed. Otherwise minimal parental guidance should be needed.
Supply List
Recommended Supplies (Students may use these items for class)
Paper
markers/pencils/crayons

I will send a message prior to future classes if additional supplies are needed for a fun craft activity, but prefer to keep it simple to allow students an opportunity to work more independently and allow parents to use this 25 min class period as needed with only basic supervision needed on their part.
