In this Virtual Field Trip, we'll be exploring the Cotswolds region of England. The Cotswolds incredible scenery and quaint villages have inspired writers for centuries. Shakespeare is rumored to have spent time here, Lewis Carroll based Alice from Alice in Wonderland on a friend’s child he met when spending time in Stow-On-The-Wold. J.M. Barrie wrote about Peter Pan while staying in the Cotswolds. When he wasn’t writing he was playing cricket with Arthur Conan Doyle (Sherlock Holmes), HG Wells (War of the Worlds), AA Milne (Winnie the Pooh) and PG Wodehouse(My Man Jeeves). Jane Austen lived in the area and at least one of Shelley’s poems was inspired here. Together we'll explore picturesque Stow-On-The-Wold and we'll take a virtual footpath through the surrounding countryside, while we learn about the region. Our class will be presented via Nearpod, which is an external website. At the beginning of the class I will provide a direct link and/or code for students to log in using an internet browser OR the Nearpod app on a tablet/smartphone. Our presentation includes videos, slideshows, virtual field trips, and more! During our Nearpod presentation, students will have the opportunity to flip through slideshows at their own pace, control 360 degree photos and watch short videos together. You can use a separate tablet or smartphone to access the Nearpod presentation, but some of the features are easier to see on a larger screen. It is important that learners are comfortable navigating to a separate browser, open tabs, minimize their screen and access their computer taskbar if needed. Also, please note that the class recording does not display the Nearpod lesson, as that is conducted on a separate browser window and is not shared onscreen. If you miss a class you can request a student-paced version of the Nearpod lesson to complete. In my 14+ months in Europe, one of my favorite memories is the time I spent in the Cotswolds wandering along the ancient footpaths through the fields and meadows from village to village.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I traveled throughout Europe for 14+ months during college. The Cotswolds was one of the highlights of my trip! I fell in love with the area and look forward to taking my own children one day. Travel is one of my biggest passions (my family currently lives and travels the US in a 30' fifth wheel). I was very interested in leading tours in Europe when I finished my college degree, although life took me in a different direction for awhile. I'm so excited to be able to lead virtual tours of these amazing places with the technology we have available today!
