In this fully online, ongoing course, students will get an introduction to choral music through learning to sing vocaleses, partner songs, rounds, and beginning harmony while singing different styles from Beethoven to Broadway.

This is a true choral music class. Students will be learning to warm up their voices by singing vocaleases at the beginning of each class. This will help their vocal chords stay lubricated throughout the duration of the class. Students will then move into singing the music rehearsal part of the class. Students will be singing all types of music from all different genres of music. I would like to introduce them to harmony through singing traditional partner songs and rounds. This will help them with ear training. We will then move to songs with simple, yet lovely, 2 part harmony. I will also introduce them to sight singing because this will help them become the best singer they can be. Students will also be introduced to musical notation. It is my goal to make music happen, together with your child, virtually, in this ever changing world.
Learning Goals
Students will be introduced to and gain a basic understanding of, ear training, sight singing, musical notation, vocaleses, and basic harmony, all while singing music from different genres throughout music history.

My name is Tara Raney. I teach classes about music, Broadway Musicals, private voice lessons, horses and cats. I will possibly add classes about gardening as well.
I have a Bachelor of Music Education Degree as well as a Master of Education Degree. I have a Teacher of English as a Second Language certification. I have been a public school teacher in Arkansas for 23 years and an online educator for 3 years.
My philosophy of education is that all children can and will learn if given the proper tools in the right educational setting. I have loved being a teacher for the last 23 years. It has been a rewarding career and I have deeply bonded with the young people I have met and I have enjoyed watching them grow and learn.
