Class Experience

The violin may seem like a daunting skill to embark on, but I ensure that each student will gain confidence when playing the violin all while having fun! I love having my classes be a space where students feel comfortable to take risks, make mistakes, ask questions, and feel a part of the violin community. Lessons will move from how to properly hold their violin and bow and basic violin techniques to playing pieces and musical theory. As the student progresses, the weekly lessons may vary from working on scales and shifting, to playing different musical pieces and etudes. Private lessons are catered to each student as students come with different skills and interests. The curriculum will be based on the Suzuki method with students being first assessed on what their level is and then progress through the various pieces. Worksheets, exercises, and scales will be given depending on the lesson and students' interests. If the student desires, we can also choose to pick a song or play a duet. By the end of the semester, students will feel confident in their violin technique, be able to read music, know how to play various violin pieces, and gain both confidence and skills in performing.

Throughout the semester, various violin-related items may be purchased but this is at the discretion of your family and what you would like to add to their curriculum. These items can include a shoulder rest, music stand, various music books, etc., Lessons will include musical games, constructive feedback, and opportunities for the learner to both play for the teacher and occasionally, perform duets together! No previous knowledge required, although, if a student does have previous experience, they will be able to move through the books quickly.

Punctuality policy: If the student doesn't show up to class within 10 minutes of the class start time (unless you've messaged me beforehand explaining that they will be late), I will end the meeting and you will be charged for the lesson fee. In order to avoid missed lessons, please send me a message and I'll do my best to schedule a make-up lesson time with you!
