What's included
Homework
1-2 hours per week. Students will watch the weekly video and practice the new skills of the week. They will share with the group any questions they may have, answer the weekly question and send a short video of one thing they feel they did very well that week.Class Experience
This will be a fun, flex class where students can learn to play the violin in a traditional, yet fun way. I teach a traditional method that combines note reading with playing the violin, along with games, teaching videos, and more. I provide an alternative to the Suzuki method. Students have fun by watching a weekly teacher taught video, playing games made exclusively for my students, and encouraging students to share what they have learned on our platform. Mrs. Helen will give each learner private feedback that will encourage them in their journey, and more! In this first month of violin, we will learn how to care for our violin, name the parts of the violin and bow, how to pluck the strings and use the bow on open strings. We will be able to put our fingers in the correct places on the E and A strings and play a few simple songs. Each class will begin with a review of the previous lesson, a new skill, music and a game to support the new skill. I teach in a warm, patient, encouraging way that encourages students to have a can do attitude. Students can post any questions, and a short video showing what they have learned each week. There will also be a "Question of the Week" that each student can answer and others can comment on. This is the first month of learning the violin, so no prior knowledge or experience is needed. I will post a video at the beginning of each week as well as an attachment to a google slide game that have created and a written review of the class and instructions for practice. Let's have some fun!

I have been teaching violin for 20 plus years. I have taught private, group, community youth orchestras, and played in community orchestras. My goal is to share my passion for the violin with my students and to instill within them a belief that they can accomplish great things if they stick with it, make it fun, and take it one step at a time.
