2 in-class hoursClass Experience
This is a private one-on-one violin lesson experience. In order to teach an instrument effectively, I will need to see and hear the student at all times. The student will not be placed on mute and will interact directly with the teacher through call-and-response, games, and discussions. Week 1: The student will learn the parts of the instrument and the proper posture for holding the violin. They will pluck open strings and learn how to read a tuner. Week 2: The student will learn how to hold the bow. They will learn the 2-3 notes on the A string by rote, then read the notes on the staff. They will practice traditional tunes such as Hot Cross Buns, Boil Them Cabbage Down. They will play with a combination of plucking and bowing. Week 3: The student will learn the remaining A string notes in the first position by rote, then by reading on the staff. The student will start learning the E string notes. The student will mostly be playing with the bow, but may occasionally still pluck. Week 4: The student will learn the A Major Scale, and start playing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star theme. Please Note: class pacing is dependent on the student and the time they put into practicing outside of lessons. Additionally, since students in this class are brand-new to learning the violin, the price of this month-long course is kept lower to help offset the cost of acquiring an instrument. Students that complete this class will be able to enroll in the next level up- Private Violin Lessons for Beginning & Intermediate Learners!
Learning Goals
Students will learn the foundation of playing the violin. By the end of this course, they will know how to hold the instrument and bow in both rest position and playing position. The student will be able to play simple songs by rote and by reading sheet music within the range of a one-octave A major scale.
