Learn to play violin, fiddle, viola, cello, or piano in this 1:1 Flex class. Take ownership of your musical journey with lessons customized just for you. Are you having trouble finding music lessons that work with your schedule? Learn anytime and anywhere with recorded lessons. You can add videos of your own playing and receive feedback, practice ideas, and next steps. Improve at your own place and pace. Feeling camera-shy or nervous? You’ll find a supportive experience in this class. Appearing on camera and posting videos is always optional. You can choose to share as much or as little as you’d like. You can also choose to ask questions through written communication and Outschool messages. Learn in the way that works best for you. Here’s what you can expect in each 4-week session of this class. 🎻 Survey & Check-In Each week will start with a survey or reflection questions. Your answers and responses will ensure your lessons are perfect for your level and goals. You can expect questions about your playing experience and goals. You can share songs you want to learn or skills you’d like to improve. 🎻 Focused Video Lesson(s) Based on your input, you‘ll see at least one video lesson made specifically for you. You’ll learn skills to focus on, repertoire and new songs to play along with. You can learn scales, sight-reading, and music theory too. You will learn through playing exercises and repertoire. Curriculum can include Suzuki Method, Essential Elements, fiddle tunes, and songs you request or share. It’s like having a private lesson you can review as much as you want! 🎻 Skills Practice You’ll spend each week practicing your new skills and songs. Example skills include: - holding the instrument and bow - playing in tune - bowing rhythms - creating beautiful tone - vibrato - scales and arpeggios - music theory and sight reading - playing skills and passages specific to songs you want to learn 🎻 Interactions There are lots of ways to interact in a 1:1 Flex class. You can choose to share your playing through videos in the Outschool classroom. Every time you do, you can expect a response with encouragement, feedback, and next steps. You can also ask questions, share songs you want to learn, and ask for help with tricky passages or songs. Completing the weekly survey means you will be able to reflect on your progress, ask questions, and set goals. You’ll also have a record of your progress as you go! 🎻 Optional Live Lesson/Conference This FLEX Class includes one 25-minute long live session. You’ll schedule this lesson at a time that works best for you and your teacher to meet. You can choose to check in and get feedback on your playing, ask questions, or set goals for future classes. Plus, it’s a great way to get more comfortable on camera and experience a live lesson. The live component of this class is optional. ***If you are not feeling comfortable on camera, this class still works great as a 100% asynchronous class.*** You can keep learning in future sessions too. Each 4-week session features new, customized content just for you. You’ll keep improving and moving forward with every class.

Supply List
Violin in good playing condition. Pitch clip, tuner, or tuning app. Bow in good playing condition and rosin. Shoulder rest or sponge. Music stand and music. (Student-requested repertoire, or teacher will suggest curriculum and books to purchase after the first week of class.)

Stacey Rae Sinclair is a lifelong musician with the heart of a teacher. She is a certified teacher with a master's degree in education. Over her 15 years of teaching, she has taught private lessons, workshops, and camps. Stacey Rae Sinclair is a successful teacher on Outschool. Since September of 2020, she has been in good standing, with a 5-star rating. She founded Stacey Rae Sinclair Music (SRS Music) to help fill the consistent demand for 1:1 violin lessons, fiddle classes, and more. Her mission is to bring a love of learning and joy for music to all her learners.
Bodhi Bryan-Roig has a huge passion for music. He has been playing the violin for over 10 years and the guitar for over 7 years. He wants to share his passion for music with others. He hopes to inspire kids to pick up and continue to play the violin, an instrument he immediately fell in love with. Bodhi studied classical violin under Stacey Rae Sinclair. He is ideally suited to join the SRS Music team, with the perfect combination of musical skill and teaching philosophy. When teaching, he always focuses on the things learners are doing right. He gives encouragement and advice through positive feedback.
