45 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Get all dressed up in your favorite elf-like or Christmasy outfit, your own elf if you have one, and a warm cup of cocoa for a reading of How to Catch An Elf! After the story we will come up with household materials and ways to create our very own (pretend) elf trap. An idea list will be provided prior to the class. We'll take a short & fun movement break to dance like Santa's elves. Then, children will be prompted to create letters in "snow" (a tray of salt or sugar) to write their elf a secret note and/or begin a story/drawing using the template provided about how they caught their elf. You will also receive a recipe card for making elf-munch (a simple trail mix snack)!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I'm Miss Allie. I'm a preschool director and a mom of two children. I have 10 years professional education experience and a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I have a passion towards social and emotional development.
I love teaching thematic lessons for preschool to expose young children to foundational concepts in a fun way. Together, we are a village, supporting each other, and one of the things I offer to you are tools for parents to help their children through difficult behaviors and instilling a love of learning, all while experiencing crucial bonding time.
I believe that learning experiences should be PLAYFUL & CREATIVE. This is why my lessons begin as a teacher-directed activity, but then move to a more process-oriented and child directed activity to follow the child's own imagination and interests.
My lessons are always full of STORIES, ART, HANDS-ON, and MOVEMENT. While I do ask that you gather materials from around your home, I think this helps make the learning more personal to your child rather than a bunch of worksheets, especially for 3, 4, and 5 year olds!
Let's explore together!
